A new day camp from the Discovery Hall Programs! Come learn about the wonders of the marine world through artistic discovery! Campers will spend the morning in the maritime forest and on the beach learning about the plants and animals that live on barrier islands. Each camper will receive their own sketch book to record and sketch anything they find interesting in the field. For the afternoon, we will return to the classroom and create several art projects showcasing their explorations on Dauphin Island. One art project will highlight gyotaku, the art of fish printing. Students will create several fish prints, including one on a canvas bag that is theirs to keep! This one day program (9am-4pm) will explore barrier island habitats and encourage a stronger connection to the natural world through artistic creations. All levels of artistic ability are invited to come and do some Art-Sea Discovery! Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided, but please pack a lunch. Refrigeration is available. Students will take home their sketchbook, art projects, canvas fish-print bag, certificate, t-shirt and passes to the Estuarium. Ages 8-13 (Rising 3rd – 8th grades).
