This week-long residential camp is geared toward rising 7th through 9th graders. Campers will learn about the ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and Mobile Bay from experience marine science educators, while immersing themselves in a variety of hands-on and in-the-field activities. Explore Mobile Bay about the R/V Alabama Discovery, seine for fish, dissect a shark, see plankton up close, visit Sand Island, and enjoy the island’s famous snow cones! Campers return year after year for this unique experience.
Scholarship Information: Two (2) scholarships are available for campers to attend the Gulf Island Journey camp. Interested families should include a brief letter with their registration form, either by mail or email, explaining financial need and the camper’s desire to attend.
Program Cost: The cost of this program is $550 and includes tuition, room, meals, and lab fees. The $50 registration fee is part of the program cost, and is non-refundable. The next payment of $100 is due when the camp release forms are returned. A balance of $400 is due at check-in. The second tuition payment of $100 may be returned if notice of withdrawal is communicated to the DHP Registrar (in writing) at least seven days prior to the first day of camp.

Application Deadline: Class is limited to 30 participants. Please return this form, with a $50 non-refundable registration fee, to hold your child’s space in this program. All checks should be made payable to Dauphin Island Sea Lab.
Student handbooks will be e-mailed to parents after May 1, 2018. ALL forms located in the student handbook (5 total) should be mailed in with your $100 tuition payment by the date indicated in the handbook email.
NOTE: The Dauphin Island Sea Lab reserves the right to cancel the program in the event enrollment is inadequate. Noncompliance with the rules of the program results in expulsion and forfeiture of program cost.
