For
Rising K-3rd Grade Students,Oceans Alive!
The Gulf of Mexico offers a wealth of material for
developing minds and curious senses in "Ocean's Alive," a
half-day adventure for children ages 5-8 and their
parents/grandparents. Combining arts and crafts with a beach
walk adventure, the educators at the Sea Lab usher children
and adults into a deeper appreciation of the marvelous
Alabama coast. Lessons in marine biology, ecology and
zoology are introduced in hands-on activities so fun, your
children will discover that learning can be a blast!

For Rising 4th - 6th Grade Students.Treasure Island
Join us for a treasure hunt on Dauphin Island. This is a
half-day adventure and will be limited to 15 students +
parents. We will use the Global Positioning System (GPS) to
find "treasure" while learning about early explorers and
settlers on Dauphin Island.

For Rising 7th - 9th Grade Students, Gulf Island Journey
Enjoy fun and education in the sun at "Gulf Island Journey,"
the weeklong residential summer camp at the Dauphin Island
Sea Lab. Participants will immerse themselves in a
variety of hands-on marine science programs, taught by a
team of experienced educators. Activities include a trawling
expedition aboard the Sea Lab's research vessel A.E. Verrill;
exploring the salt marshes of Dauphin Island; beach-combing
and bird-watching on nearby Sand Island; and much more.
Open to students ages 12 - 14. Classes limited to 30
participants, so reserve your spot early.

For
Rising 10th - 12th Grade Students,High School Summer
Course
DHP offers an accredited course in the summer in
marine science. The length of the course is four weeks, during
which time the students live on campus and participate in over 150 hours
of supervised academic activities.
Classes are taught in an academic setting and are designed to give the
student a better understanding and appreciation of the various fields in
marine science. The Alabama State Department of Education approves
the Discovery Hall Summer Programs and recommends that local systems
grant participating students credit toward either an Advanced or
Standard High School Diploma. The high school summer course is an
intense, academic program introducing the student to the marine
environment through classroom lecture, laboratory and field activities. |
